Official RustGIS Plugins¶
The plugins the RustGIS project writes and maintains: sandboxed WebAssembly modules that add
commands, ribbon tabs, panels and geoprocessing tools to RustGIS. They
run in the desktop app, in rustgis-cli and in the web app.
Install them from Plugins › Plugin Manager › Browse in RustGIS. The plugin catalog lists these and the community's plugins. Their source is in opengeos/rustgis-official-plugins.
To write a plugin of your own, start from the Rust template or the Python template, and publish it to the registry.
| Plugin | Version | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Basemaps | 0.1.2 | A tab of public basemaps that need no API key: OpenStreetMap, Esri, USGS and NASA raster tiles, OpenFreeMap and VersaTiles vector maps, and overlays for labels, roads, railways and trails. Basemaps replace each other; overlays stack on top. |
| Hello RustGIS | 0.1.2 | A starter plugin to copy: commands that report on the map's layers, zoom to the largest one and drop a pin at the map's centre, and a tool that draws bounding boxes. |
| Historical Imagery | 0.1.1 | Esri's World Imagery Wayback: every archived release of World Imagery since 2014, as a basemap you can step through by release or year, with the capture date, source and resolution of the imagery at any place. |
| Map Explorer | 0.1.2 | A tab of its own for exploring the map: jump to a continent or a random place, select the largest features or a random sample, and summarize a layer's numeric fields. |
| Vector Toolkit | 0.1.2 | Geoprocessing tools for sampling and tessellation: hexagon and square grids over a layer's extent, and random points inside polygons. |
